~ Emris Forest ~

    August 27th, 2012 was the day Emris Forest came to life... 
Late that morning my dear friend, Iris, and I set out on an adventure to explore a beautiful abandoned farm for the afternoon. We ventured through the old sheds, coops and sections of the towering red barn that must have been at least fifty years old.  We had a delightful time dressing up for the occasion in my room and stuffing the back of her car full of creative antique props.  Then we set out as I directed her to the hidden mystery.  For ten years I had wanted to walk on the abandoned property.  When I was little I hoped to someday fix up the old brick house and live in it; managing the farm and raising a family like the unknown families before I .  Sadly, the house was torn down for reasons I couldn't understand at the time.  Ever since then I had always wanted to explore the history of the place.  It was an unforgettable day, we could finally discover what had been untraveled and out of reach for most of my childhood...

All throughout the barn we discovered many everyday artifacts still in their correct places 

waiting to be used again. I believe this is a mouse trap of some sort!

Saving memories...

We decided to name the little farm, "Emris Forest", which is both of our names combined. I am so blessed to have such wonderful memories of this special day with Iris! Unfortunately, that was our only adventure spent there, a couple months later what was left of our newly claimed forest was torn down.

Exciting news!!! 
As a surprise Christmas gift my dad had me pick out a new camera! I'm so blessed...And spoiled!
I ended up getting the new Canon Rebel t4i. *explodes from happiness * 
It is simply amazing! So it has been keeping me busy... Trying to get the hang of the settings and everything. I am eager to post new photos soon! 

In the mean time, I wanted to post my Facebook page link. The new photos are usually posted there first... and rarely ever make it on here.. I'm working on it!

I'm back!!

Wow... I'm officially a terrible blogger... However, it is New Years Eve, and one of my resolutions is to be better at sharing my photography projects.
(haha yeah, I know... I'm still going to try!)
I can't believe it has been over a year since I last posted any photos! Even though I haven't posted anything doesn't mean I haven't been snapping pictures though! I have so much to post over the next couple weeks! For right now to celebrate the past amazing year of 2012 I thought I would share my most recent pictures.

Music Makes The Movie

Hi everyone!

   This post is by my dear friend Alexis for a scholarship that requires a blog. :)

  I have always loved music and enjoy playing the piano.  My career goal is to become a movie soundtrack composer. I will be attending Ave Maria University this fall to pursue an undergraduate degree, double majoring in Music and Business.

             I have a deep passion for music and am interested in composing film scores. I’ve enjoyed academics and have worked very hard for success in school.  My enthusiasm for movie making began a few years ago when I realized how powerful and beautiful film can be, and how it can impact the world for good.  I have produced many short films and won a scholarship for a movie contest. In the future, I hope to be involved in filmmaking as a composer who spreads wholesome messages through media, letting the world know that there is always hope, and dreams do come true.

            Ave Maria University is a perfect fit for this career path because of its unique music program.  At AMU, there is a particular focus on choir and sacred music that is rarely ever found on college campuses.  Sacred music is a very useful area of study for film scoring because of its spiritual influence. There is something intangible and mystical about music that can move the human heart and elevate the soul. It’s a very powerful tool, especially when juxtaposed with motion picture imagery.  That is not to say that Bach’s Mass in B Minor is an appropriate soundtrack for Transformers 3.  Rather, choir and sacred music exercise a musician’s ability to set certain moods to certain events.  The composer studying Bach will have a strong musical foundation. Trevor Rabin, one world-renowned film composer, said that: “The process of composing the film score for each movie is completely different. They all have their own personality and their own completely different life but there's never been a formula. Each time it's a new thing.” Writing notes to express human emotions is an art. "Art has a unique capacity to take one or other facet of the message and translate it into colours, shapes and sounds which nourish the intuition of those who look or listen. It does so without emptying the message itself of its transcendent value and its aura of mystery," to quote John Paul II. Essentially, music and composing are art forms that require much study and creativity.  I believe AMU will prepare me very well by giving me a strong foundation in music overall, and will inspire creativity to flow forth from there.

            While creativity and art are required in a film score career, there is also a business side to such a profession. Marketing and time management are prerequisites to success in this field; it is my hope to study music and share its beauty with the world through Hollywood. I am very eager to begin my double major and pursue this career.
